Ten tips for successful networking:

1. Always bring your business cards.

2. Be yourself- networking is about being genuine.

3. Develop a 15 second elevator pitch on who you are and what you do.

4. Set a goal of meeting at least 5 new people at each event.

5. Visit events and groups that really spark your interest.

6. Ask open-ended questions.

7. Follow-up quickly and efficiently.

Networking Events

The Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to growing your network. We offer monthly opportunities for members to share ideas, contacts and most importantly, business referrals.

Membership Luncheons – Monthly

Each luncheon consists of a sponsor, key speaker and lunch buffet. With around 100-120 in attendance each month, it is an excellent opportunity to touch base with a significant number of business community members. Not only will you build solid connections, but luncheons are held in venues like Arrowhead Stadium, the Truman Library, and Ophelia's Restaurant. Positive atmospheres, tasty meals, valuable connections, and top-notch speakers; what else could you need?

Business After Hours

It's social. It's networking. And all your contacts will be there. Business After Hours is one of our most popular networking activities and is held all over the metro - sponsor's choice. The hours are typically 4:30 – 6:00pm with food and beverages provided by the sponsor. With its social atmosphere and quality contacts, Business After Hours is the place to strengthen your network.

Independence Regional Business Expo

Our largest networking event coordinated by the Independence Chamber of Commerce and the Independence Economic Development Council. Many of the most recognizable businesses in Missouri’s second largest county will be displaying, explaining, and demonstrating their products and services.
